Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still use the OBD port to diagnose other vehicle systems?

Yes. Standard BMW diagnostic tools can still be used to read and clear fault codes from systems such as ABS, DSC, and body modules.

The engine ECU will no longer be accessible via BMW diagnostic software. Engine diagnostics and fault management are performed through Syvecs SCal software.

Does traction control still function and can it be disabled?

Yes.

The Syvecs traction control system offers significantly improved performance over the factory strategy. The OEM ESP button can be assigned within SCal using AN20, allowing traction control settings to be adjusted or disabled as required.

If I fit larger injectors, will the fuel consumption gauge still read correctly?

Yes.

The fuel consumption calculation can be adjusted within:

SCal → Fuel Consumption → Injector Consumption Scaling

A good starting point is:

Injector Size ÷ 60

How do I switch between calibrations and maps?

The recommended solution is to install a Syvecs Calibration Rotary Switch, available through Syvecs or any authorised dealer.

This provides instant access to multiple maps, traction settings, boost levels, and launch control configurations.

I am turbocharging my E46 M3. How do I adjust fueling and ignition?

The supplied base calibration is designed around the naturally aspirated Alpha-N strategy.

For forced induction applications, simply install a MAP sensor and connect it to a spare ECU input.

Additional fueling can then be configured under:

Run Mode → Fueling → Corrections → Simple Manifold Pressure Multiplier

Ignition timing adjustments can be made under:

Run Mode → Ignition → Corrections → Simple Manifold Pressure Adder

This allows straightforward scaling of fuel and ignition values based on manifold pressure.

Can I install wideband lambda sensors even though the vehicle did not have them from the factory?

Yes.

The Syvecs E46 M3 Kit fully supports dual LSU4.9 wideband lambda sensors as standard but can be built with option for Dual NTK Sensors also

Any Other parts i need?

If you are planning to turbocharge or supercharge the engine, then you will need an External map sensor wiring in to your plug in adaptor
