SCal Basic view ( or lack of )

I got a new ( used/new to me ) W7U laptop and installed the software as usual.

But for some reason no matter what I've tried, it wont allow me to use the basic views in SCal.

Tried older versions, latest version, copying registry from computers that allow it, went through normal Change Cal access procedures etc, but it sill wont offer me an option to connect or load a basic view.

Same applies to Scal, Sview, SCfg etc when opening a file, although it's only Scal I'm wanting

Any suggestions ?

re-installing a software version a year or so old and then the newer versions back on top again seems to have resolved it.

Something must be missing with the last 2 software updates.
