I wanted to consider whether it would be possible to use a Maths channel in SView to provide a measure of engine performance by calculating the time the engine spends in each MAP cell.
I thought it would be very helpful when confirming the engine tune on the road / drag strip and may also be helpful on the dyno.
The pull below was taken on a Dyno where it was easy to see the engine dropped torque between 4200 RPM and recovered by 6000 RPM
The red box in the following two images shows the number of milliseconds the engine has spent in each RPM cell of the Fuel and ignition maps between 4200 RPM and 6000 RPM.
The angled blue line in the middle of the red box shows the MAP Cell at 5136 RPM and on SView shows the engine took 0.460 seconds to cross the cell, whereas the yellow line to the left shows the engine only took 0.415 seconds to cross the Cell at 4850 RPM.
Given that the RPM MAP Cells are evenly spaced, logic suggests to me the time taken to cross each cell should be fairly similar if the tune is consistent.
Any thoughts?
