MY03 STI ECU pin outs

Post by Rob-S »

Hi guys,
Has anyone got the pin outs diagrams and I/O Schedule for the Subaru MY03?
Need to find out where to wire inputs for oil pressure, oil temperature, air charge temperature, fuel pressure and an output for water injection.

Cheers

It's all in the technical section of this forum - here.

There aren't many spare inputs and outputs, but the usual ones to choose are:

MAF signal input (maybe EOT)
TGV L (Perhaps fuel pressure)
TGV R (Perhaps oil pressure)
Air Temp (use for ACT)

You can also use the Neutral switch input (for EOT, or for something you want to switch on or off).

You can then use the TGV outputs on INJ7 and INJ8, but unless you get rid of A/C there are no other outputs spare, apart from Ignition 6 but that is a low current 5V/TTL output so you need an external interface to anything meaningful with it.

Thank you Tim, I was looking there last night but just looked at the model year and it says 2001.
I have used the neutral switch for launch control but the others you list will cover everything I need.

I think I'm missing something here :oops:
I trying to figure out the relationship between the 70 pin outs listed in the S6GP wiring document and the new age PNP unit that I have.
I cannot relate any of the CTL numbers to the 122 pins on the ECU, for instance, I have launch control on AN16 CTL057 and connected to pin 39 (D8) in the ECU.
Can you save my brain :?

I have the following inputs available in the Cal file but need to know what pin numbers these relate to.
AN06 CTL038
AN07 CTL040
AN08 CTL042
AN11 CTL047

Can you save my brain :?

AN01 = AB1 (B for bipolar) = CTL-035
AN02 = AB2 = CTL-037
AN03 = AB3 = CTL-039
AN04 = AB4 = CTL-041
AN05 = AU1 (U for unipolar) = CTL-036
AN06 = AU2 = CTL-038
AN07 = AU3 = CTL-040
AN08 = AU4 = CTL-042
AN09 = AV1 (V for Voltage) = CTL-043
AN10 = AV2 = CTL-045
AN11 = AV3 = CTL-047
AN12 = AV4 = CTL-049
AN13 = AR1 (R for resistive) = CTL-051
AN14 = AR2 = CTL-053
AN15 = AR3 = CTL-055
AN16 = AR4 = CTL-057

You are asking the wrong questions.

The "CTL" denomination refers to the control board, and should generally be ignored, the only place it really appears is on the I/O configuration in the software and the relationship between CTL pin and OEM pin is different for every ECU or loom adaptor.

All the info you need is here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=137

I've copied below, you may also want to get the OEM ECU pinout in PDF to go with it.

A:

09 08 07 06 05 04 03 [] 02 01
21 20 19 18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10
31 30 29 [] 28 27 [] 26 25 24 23 22

B:

09 08 07 [] 06 05 04 03 02 01
19 18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10
28 27 26 25 24 23 [] 22 21 20

C:

07 06 05 04 03 [] 02 01
16 15 14 13 12 11 10 09 08
24 23 22 [] 21 20 19 18 17

D:

07 06[]05 04 03 02 01
15 14 13 12 11 10 09 08
22 21 20 19 18 [] 17 16

E:

06 05 04 03 02 01
12 11 10 09 08 07
17 16 [] 15 14 13

AN01 = AB1 Crank (B2)
AN02 = AB2 Cam (B1)
AN03 = AB3 AVCS L (E9)
AN04 = AB4 AVCS R (E2)
AN05 = AU1 Vehicle Speed (D1)
AN06 = AU2 MAF Signal (E13)
AN07 = AU3 TGV L (B13)
AN08 = AU4 TGV R (B23)
AN09 = AV1 Throttle (B7)
AN10 = AV2 MAP (B8)
AN11 = AV3 O2 Signal (B17)
AN12 = AV4 A/C Request (D6 on EU or D5 on JDM)
AN13 = AR1 Coolant Temp (B18)
AN14 = AR2 Air Temp (B27)
AN15 = AR3 Test Mode (D5 on EU or D14 on JDM) [KILL/ALS/LAUNCH/CAL]
AN16 AR4 Neutral Switch (D8) [ALS/LAUNCH/PIT]

A 2001 sti pinout is essentially the same through to 2005.

Cheers for this, I'm getting there!
My loom does not have a wire/pin for TGV R (B23) so I would like to see if there are any other pins that are not used so I can move it into this location.

I can empathise with (what I thought was) the question asked, even though the OP now seems to have found the info needed :)

Going from my own experience of this, a while ago...

If you are trying to work out what else you can connect to an S6PnP, the obvious thing to do is to go to SCal to see what you have spare. For example "AN7 (5V/TH) : CTL 040". Oh good you say, I have an input...now, what is that connected to at the ECU? How do I find it at the connectors.

Of you trot to the forum here and look, to be confronted by (for example) "AU3 MAF Signal (C3)". OK - so C3 is the ECU pin which, as you point out, are all listed in the pinout posts (albeit using non standard A/B/C/D/E labelling that does not correspond to the Subaru wiring diagrams)...but WTF is "AU3"?

If you happen to know that AU3 is the third Unipolar input, and that because it is listed 7th in that list it is possibly the same as AN7, then you are sorted, even though SCal listed it as 5V/TH with no hint that it's a Unipolar input. If you have documentation fine (and, to be fair, Ryan has published some now, but after I first struggled with this!!).

If not, you ask the question that has been asked and, possibly, find the table I pasted here quite helpful ;) You have added that table to the copy/paste of the pinout information - it is not there already :roll:

IMHO the entire pin-out page needs to be revamped and corrected - it has (at least one) error as it lists AV4 A/C Request as D5 on the JDM, but I'm 99% sure it's D2.
