Hi guys,

Had a CEL come on a couple of times on a track day at Brands Hatch last night, each time it went out after about 20-30 secs having eased off slightly, there were no other signs of an issue, the car didn't appear to have pulled any timing and all other parameters looked ok (oil water etc.)

The ECU has both intake temp sensors and Wideband fitted along with running AVCS on a WRX (2002)

I have the Syvecs software on my laptop - is there anyway to access the log files to find out the cause of the CEL?

More than Likely your Engine Check Light is set to the output of knock warning on your S6 which activates when a user set amount of ignition retard is reached.

Be worth checking the logs on the ecu to see what is going on with the knock retard based on each cylinder.

To pull the logs...

Use the software Sdata part of the Syvecs Software Suite

Once Sdata is opened grab the data from the ecu by selecting Device and then Read Data.

Enter a download comment if you wish and once done press OK or F10

You will then be asked if you wish to delete all the existing data on the ecu once the data has been pulled. Recommended to select Yes on both prompts to keep ecu memory as free as possible.

The files will be then saved into a folder called DownloadedData which will be present in your Syvecs folder in the shared documents folder. Use the Software then Sview to view the logs.

If you wish to view the latest saved file press on the ecu press then File and then Load lastest file in sview

was a long time ago but it was pulling timing due to noise from a broken engine mount.
