Loom Multiway Connectors. Mil Spec?

Post by giblets »

I'd like to simplify the removal of the engine and loom by using some multiway connectors through the bulkhead. I'd like to be able to remove the engine complete with loom, rather than unplug all the sensors, injectors, etc.

Mil-spec connectors are probably overkill, but does anyone have a supplier/suggestion?

Militar connectors are the safest, the last think you want is having false contacts in your signals/output they can drive you crazy! You can find decent connectors form RS

or VERY cheap from Ebay (chinese quality as usual)

Big investment but a good investment if your serious about using the car.

An alternative to Deutsche Autosport connectors. Equally as pricey though...

From long term experience of engine loom construction , the best bulkhead connection is NO connector.

Use a large grommet.

The mechanical vibration from the chassis into a chassis mount type connector on each pin / socket is something you do not want to engineer in, its quicker to construct the loom and each wire has 3 less mechanical joints, the reliability increases, and the cost of construction is less.
