Moving this post here from another area as it is more software related than hardware.
I am trying to track down some issues with a car going into limp mode but the parameter names and data logged in SView are rather cryptic. Is there a glossary somewhere that shows what the logged values are? For example I was told that bt and btmax are the ECU temperature which is not very intuitive.

Then log Limpmode and it will tell you why
Re: Glossary and definition of parameters being logged in SView
I am already logging Limp mode and know what has triped.
The problem comes in when trying to troubleshoot an issue. For example what parameter is an "actual" and what is a "target". I purchased the car with the Syvecs already installed, hence why I'm asking for a glossary/definition of what the parameters are in SView. I'm not even sure if the parameters have a standard naming convention or not

Re: Glossary and definition of parameters being logged in SView
Most are fairly self explanatory, so what is limp mode saying then ?
Re: Glossary and definition of parameters being logged in SView
Yes, many are easy to understand but others are not. It was a lean condition due to a different issue. Regarding my request, I used that as an example.
I'm not asking for help in troubleshooting, I'm simply asking for the parameter definitions.

I did try to maintain a list here, so it may be useful: https://syvecs.wiki/basics:abbreviations

The first step is to consult the user manual or any official documentation provided with SView. Manufacturers often include glossaries or detailed descriptions of the parameters logged by their software.
Manufacturer's Website:
Visit the website of the software manufacturer. They might have support pages, FAQs, or forums where common questions, like parameter definitions, are addressed. Sometimes, manufacturers provide downloadable glossaries or user guides online.
Online Forums and Communities:
Car enthusiast forums, especially those dedicated to your specific car model or diagnostic tools, can be incredibly useful. Experienced users and mechanics often share their knowledge and might have already decoded the parameters you are interested in.
Examples include sites like Reddit, Automotive Forums, or specific forums for your car make (e.g., BMW Forums, Mercedes-Benz Forums, etc.).

If SView lacks clear definitions, consider exporting the data to other diagnostic tools or software that might provide better clarity or documentation.nmerdan wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:46 pm I did try to maintain a list here, so it may be useful: https://syvecs.wiki/basics:abbreviations PolyTrack
