Thanks a lot for your hints and help. I will check out all that tomorrow evening.
On more idea is to record the analogue input of the cam sensor at idle, in order to make sure it exceeds the high threshold.

Yes you have the right idea, as long as the high output is nicely over (say 0.3v or more) the threshold at idle you will be fine,

Today i logged the cam sensor @ idle rpm. Even @ 800 rpm it easily reaches the pos. and neg. saturation limits of +/- 5V.
So i set the high threshold to 2.5 V and the low to -1.0 V. The car logically still idles well.
Tomorrow i will do a rpm limit pull and check out if the problem is sorted now, but should be ...
