Start and Idle comparison?

Post by davidmcluckie »

Hey guys. Would anyone be able to provide me with either a cal or even screenshots of their starting and idle parameters? I'd really like to compare them to mine and try some adjustments. Even a base map or something. I'm on an S6 pnp in a 2005 Impreza STI (2.0)
As always any help most appreciated as you guys have always been most helpful.

And no I never got any further in the other thread with the starting :(

I should have said after having a lightened flywheel fitted it doesn't idle as well as it did before. It's like it overshoots and undershoots its target rpm.

Really, there are many parameters that could affect idle, from ensuring basic sensor calibrations like throttle etc are correct ( along with open/closed throttles and then telling idle control to be off/on relative to them ), to fueling, timing and to actual idle controls.

A screenshot of a different car isnt really going to do anything.

If stuck, best way to start is turn idle control off.

And no idea what starting thread you're referring to.

I thought if I could at least compare idle between two engines (both 2.0 imprezas) just in case there was anything blazingly different. I'm fairly sure whoever mapped this car originally is using settings straight off the example calibration provided with the software.

Do you mean disable the closed loop idle?

Other starting thread, in which you helped. :) - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=945

Yes, if there are any odd oscillations, the best starting point is turn all closed loop features off, or at least reduce the range of control they have to a minimum, so you can at least get a stable base idle sorted before allowing any feedback correction.

Thank you Stevieturbo. Started with closed loop disabled and got it dialled in a lot better. Adjusted a few more thing with closed loop, now 10x better. Not 100% perfect but doesn't cut out occasionally now.

Thanks again.
