Sitting here putting together some looms for S6 GPs to go into 4cyl Subaru's.
It occured to whilst doing it to look have a sniff in Scal to see if the spare Igniter outputs can be configured to do any other jobs, this appears to be the case. But is it ?
Also if this the case what current can they Sink ?
thanks ---john---

John,
Any spare output can be assigned to pretty much any function. If you wanted to drive a wastegate solenoid then so be it, BUT... the IGN outputs are low current TTL push-pull types, not the normal high current open collector type. We normally only use them for things that have a fairly high impedance / low current demand. Furthermore it would be wise only to drive resistive loads, not inductive or reactive. Typical "non-ignition" applications are driving the input to fuel pump controllers and the control input of an H-Bridge driver for DBW applications. We do also sometimes feed them into RC low pass filters to generate a pseudo-analogue output for devices that want linear drive.
If your application requires more than 40mA and/or is inductive/reactive then you will need to buffer the output. If you're low on outputs then a buffer is the best option, if you have spare outputs that can drive your application then better off using those.
Hope this helps,
Pat.

Thanks for that Pat, now fully aware of what they are good for
Only contemplated it as I was wiring the S6 connector and thought they may be handy/usefull additions.
Seems they may well be
