Solaris software and "Dongle"

Pat, I see that you've got the software available for download but I've purchased one of these S6 PNP's from one of your suppliers (ie, paid for it but won't recieve it until you've finished building the ECU and shipped it out

) so how do I get the "dongle" to allow me (and more importantly, my mapper) to use the software on the ECU. Does it come included in the ECU price? or is it extra?
Cheers!
Russell

Morning Russell!
You don't need a dongle to use the software, or to access the ECU, you just download the software, install it, plug your Ethernet cable into your laptop / PC and off you go. If the map is to be protected to prevent others from accessing it just by plugging in then there are two options : either you can password protect it or you can go for developer locking, whereby you DO need a dongle, and ID files on the PC which match the developer ID of the ECU.... I would suggest that for most road car applications if any protection is required, the best option is to run with "GENERIC" ID and just use a password which is unique to the vehicle.... that way everyone has access *IF* they know the password, and one mapper can give the password to another without giving the other access to all their ECUs, and if the two mappers don't like eachother, worst case the second mapper can just overwrite the map that's on there, you don't end up being stuck / locked out.
Hope this helps,
Pat.

Brilliant!
Cheers Pat - looks like I finally will get this car on the road.......... and still have the ability to fine tune changes myself (assuming I get up the "intestinal fortitude")
by the way - seeing as your about.....what else will I need to run it? as people have mentioned bigger MAP sensors and Crank triggers (not needed on the Scoob AFAIK?) Turbo MD 321T will be running 1.8-1.9 Bar.

Morning Russell!
The stock MAP sensor will cease reading somewhere between 1.55 and 1.8 bar boost, they seem to vary a little, so if you plan on running 1.8-1.9 bar, then you will need at least a 3 bar sensor (which will read 1 bar atmosphere plus 2 bar of boost). The sensors we supply will read a little beyond 3 bar absolute, certainly 3.1 sometimes up to 3.2 bar, which gives you a nice bit of headroom to set the boost cut some 0.2-0.3 bar over the target boost, so a) you're not running with no cut at all and b) you'll not clip the cut if you just get a small overboost spike, but you will hit the cut if the spike is big, or some other failure in the boost control system renders the ECU unable to control the boost (eg pipe blown off the actuator).
Crank trigger wise, you can run with the stock sensor and wheel, it is not the best crank pattern ever invented but it does work acceptably. You also have the option of going to either a magnetic or an optical 36-1 wheel setup if you want to run something with a bit more resolution.
Hope this helps,
Pat.

Cheers Pat
final question.... cost of Map Sensor?
Should I just pick one up from the people supplying the ECU or direct from you?

They Retail at £69.99 + vat
