Sequential Paddle Downshift Blip (no clutch)

just tuning my new sequential gearbox and so far so good, i would though like to check the thought on the downshift blip.

my thoughts are with the sequential if i request a downshift (no clutch), the blip is actually going to drive the car on as it will be on throttle?
i can see that you can disable the blip if the clutch is depressed but this is where you would want the blip?

does anyone have any thoughts on this and maybe how it should be done?

No, the entire reason for the down blip is for clutchless shifts to try and assist matching rpm/load for the shift.

As you'd be want to see an engine rpm increase, rather than the gearbox taking the entire strain of that rpm increase on the rotating assembly.

It's up to you to determine what sort of range of throttle opening is needed for your setup to achieve the smoothest shifts

thanks for the input, my head just cannot get over the throttle opening without the gear being disengaged, just feeling like you will get push on.
here is a log of a down change, you can see the throttle opening rpm does increase, whats odd is that i get a rev limit kick in and hold the rpm but it looks like the gear change is complete, maybe this is why the change feels so harsh?

If you are changing down a gear. Closed throttle, whether clutchless or not. At some point the momentum of the vehicle is going to try and increase the engine rpm via the drivetrain.

Of course that is going to have some "violence" to it.

Downshifts with a closed throttle have the engine rpm decreasing, but for a smooth downshift transition, you need engine rpm to increase to the ratio of the chosen gear/rpm/speed etc.

And if you are talking about a rev limit...highlight it to see what rev limit is active.

so the the rev limit is the rev hold time after completion, i can see this is too long, i will have a play and see if i can smooth this out

And again, I can't see what you're referring to without logs of it.
