That air temp is the most shocking.

Especially given it should be well within it's normal operating range, whereas the TC's are pretty much at the lower end of their range

And that's quite a dangerous amount of boiling water lol.

^ As we say in Australia "no point being a soft cock poofter" The steam off the boiling water was hot!, but I did man up and burns are minor, so all good Least now we have a good amount of testing so the pretenders can look it up here when they want to know what is what

I get asked for picture of the probe and details so as below:

* Inconel 600
* Motorsport 'high heat' tolerance potted strain relief (these wont break/fail at the junction where the wires are joined - unlike some)
* As per video's they are accurate as can be while being durable and also allowing multi function use (any vehicle air/fluid measure)

One of my instruments turned up today, ran a quick test on its one with a new finer wire K Type probe for a sanity check.
Seems ok but will do back to back against Syvecs S8 and KT8.

Either way I can confirm that the temp of the flame with equipment I have is ~ 1350 deg C (dep on charge gas pressure and ambient pressure/temp).

Here are three different specs of probes and max readings they give (same gas pressure, mixture, 5 min apart all three tests)
Keep in mind 'fine wire' did ~1360 deg C !!!

So even at a maximum...there is almost some 20% discrepancy ?

I know at times I've maxed my sensors at the collectors as the ecu only seemed to go to 999 ? Or maybe that's just where it topped out on those brief occasions.

I've tried to keep it a lot lower since those happened, certainly the port runners always read lower

Hope I did not miss understand your question but in the S8 and KT8 it will go to ~1345 deg C on a fine wire probe (got logs of this I can send you).

The production probe of mine there is not much difference but I will look to do a back to back video of just 2 x of my probes one on the Syvecs and the other on this meter. You have to be very particular about the set up (should only test two at once) and adjust the flame cone so its shared evenly, when I do this I can get both reading at same time within 1 deg C or better, so will do that then just unplug and put into the ETI instrument.

Next week some time the Omega simulator and two channel meter will hopefully turn up and that will be a secondary validation device, which I can just feed a sim value into the Syvecs electronics ( I am expecting about 10 deg C over reporting at peak temp in the S8, which is a known issue) and the KT8 about half that, lets see when its here though of how close my guess is

p.s. From what I have seen they are more than good enough for an EGT measure, especially when you see that there is so much difference in probes ranging in the hundreds of degree's @ 1000 deg C

Here is typical variance at 100 deg C (boiling water) was doing my own calibration curve for the Syvecs supplied ACT
started off with ice water bath (0.1 deg C on ETI) took readings each 5 deg C all the way to steam burning point
4 x Type K (2 x fine wire and 2 x EGT probes) and 1 x ACT sensor

The below is a pretty homo test, different set up heights, different days, different gun (same model filled to max but not same), different fine wire probes! & the group probe test (across three) means had to balance the flame cone so middle gets the peak, the two on outer less. So lots of issues, but they were both adjusted to reach maximum temps.

Anyway you can see figure onboard S8 TC input v the ETI, both reading above 1300 deg C.
Needs a proper test which I will do tomorrow and put up, till then this will suffice.

Hey Everyone,

Good news is I can confirm that the Syvecs S8 is pretty close to the reference meter (ETI).
Test consisted of 2 x production probes, set up spot on and adjusted to read similar to each other on KT1 and KT2 (video and logged), then I simply swapped out egt1 off the S8 and put it into the ETI and video it.

Results

• S8 ~ 1158deg C

• ETI ~ 1166.3deg C

This was done within ~5 seconds as fast as I could do it! *to plug into ETI*, upon plugging back into S8 EGT1 was 1152deg C delta -6 for that total section of test ~20 seconds duration consisting of unplug S8, plug into meter stabilize on ETI, then unplug and put back into S8 !

All in all around ~10 deg C difference (@ ~1150 deg C)
I am editing video and will put up when finished.

p.s. I also placed a fine wire right behind the 2 EGT probes less than 1.5mm and right between gap and its really interesting to see how much heat is absorbed by the probes and the resulting lower temp read by the fine wire, you will see it in video!
