DBW on S6

Post by Slowie »

Hi

I want to fit my vehicle with DBW when I fit my S6. Can I use the I/O10 for this purpose, to drive the throttle? Or do I need the DBW expander as well? I plan on using an I/O expander, as I will run slightly short of inputs, and the S8 is too great a jump in cost for me.

Also, can I use CAN data from a datalogger to input lateral G to the S6, to enhance the engine trips?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would use other inputs on the expander and keep everything engine critical on the ECU.

Yes you can input G via CAN, but you will need some flexibility on the unit sending the info to do it as the input CAN addressing is fixed, it's easy enough on MoTeC dashes.

Thank you very much, I will keep that in mind.

Since I will then use the external DBW driver, is the I/O8 available already? I was just looking at the I/O10 because of the H-Bridge, and using the DBW driver would negate that.

The CAN I will be able to work around, thanks.

The output will be fine via the expander, it's really just the sensors I would prefer going direct, but it's really just a personal preference.

Ah, I see. I did not understand completely before. That solves my situation nicely.

Many thanks!
