Can a connector be setup to transmit OBD2 data?
I ask because I would have to deal with American emissions testing and a functional OBD2 port would be the holy grail of tuning and not being an outlaw.
There is no law I can find that an OBD port can only be created by a mega auto manufacturer, only standards of data channels. I can find no certification regiment or any rules preventing an aftermarket ECU from outputting the data per the OBD2 standard.
Outputting to an OBD2 port
Re: Outputting to an OBD2 port
It could in theory be done, using a Syvecs CAN bridge to output a range of data in J1939 CAN format.
It is something that is being looked at, but I can't tell you where that's at right now.
