Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

No, setting the input to a setting like 5v bipolar turns on the internal pullup. Same with thermistor. Not 100% sure what will kill an input. By design, VR sensors do create very high voltages and this is perfectly normal for the ecu to receive, so I can't see it being an overvoltage of some sort ha...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

very bizarre. inputs don't just die for no reason. As said before, first and easy test is to short sensor ground and the ecu input, which should cause that 5v reading to drop to 0v. ( well 2.5v in this case as it should be set to 5v bipolar and the internal pullup leaves it at 2.5v ) If you do think...

Re: Impreza S7PnP CAN Possibilities?

you will be able to see whatever is on the fixed S7 CAN output stream, as long as the receiver is also configured to receive it. ( obviously you'd need to also wire the fuel level sensor to the ecu ) At a glance though, it looks like fuel level is there in the CAN stream at 19/4, so could be used. F...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

I absolutely would not be trying to short out all 3 wires. But fortunately one of the wires may have been a shield/ground, as well as the sensor ground. If you were to short a 5v to sensor ground, you risk damaging the 5v line. I would say the chances of the wiring failing is slim yes, but wires can...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

voltage high, nothing connected

voltage mid way, the two pints shorted together, AN02 to sensor ground. Then release again

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

As said before, either short the two sensor wires together and see what AN02V does on the trace, or apply 5v to the signal wire. DO NOT apply 5v to the sensor ground wire. That will at least prove continuity of wiring to the ecu. Sitting open circuit it will be close to 5v on AN02V. If you short the...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

Seems that if you have the syncscope open. Start cranking, and then click "live" and it takes a snapshot. ALthough a small snapshot. The raw ANxxV inputs do show a functional trace though. My SIM is a square wave hall signal though, Oddly, if I only give it either crank or cam, it will not...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

Have you tried clicking either cranking or live , then cranking the engine to see what it picks up in a syncscope ? As said, it's been years since I've actually tried it under such circumstances to do an actual live scope. Normally mine always start, so it has automatically saved the most recent syn...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

try and get a fresh and definite up to date synclog. And in lieu of that, log AN02 and AN05 at 1000Hz when cranking and see what is picked up there. Maybe it is as simple as the crank sensor has died. You could also see if shorting the two wires together makes any difference when viewing ANO2 on a t...

Re: Porsche 997 Turbo - Engine stopped while highway tuning

looking at this, I think your waveform for crank/cam look pretty reasonable. I haven't put any rulers on them, but they appear a pretty good match.
